LORAC Nude Necessities Palette (Swatches & My Initial Thoughts)

Hello Everyone!

Yesterday while browsing through my local Ulta store, I spotted a new LORAC palette! It's a new palette release from the brand consisting of 12 "nude" eyeshadows in a mixture of matte, shimmers and satin finishes. The idea behind this palette is to give us soft, wearable, everyday eyeshadows. This palette is very everyday and I appreciate the mix of warm, cool and neutral tones provided. I believe that the mix of tones allows anyone to incorporate these eyeshadows into a multitude of looks.

The packaging overall is very sleek, pretty and lightweight. One side note; if seeing visible fingerprints bothers you, be forewarned. You'll see tons of prints all over this bad boy.

The two photos above were taken in different lighting to show off the colors a little better :)

Swatch Time.....

bottom swatch is applied with finger (no primer used on both)

row 1

row 2

row 2

*similar to the soft tan in row 1
row 2

row 2

So there's the swatches! I do have to admit, the pigmentation on some of these aren't as good as the rest of the LORAC range. This brand by far, is one of the best for eyeshadows...in my opinion :) So seeing some eyeshadows lacking just a bit, makes me kinda sad.

The overall tone is soft tans and browns. The last row is what redeems this palette for me. The last row (all shades above labeled row 3) are awesomely pigmented which I expect from LORAC. To be honest, if I look as this palette from the perspective of soft and natural, then it totally makes sense to have these specific tones with a more subdued pigmentation.

*edit~ 2/3/2016 ~ I've worn all of the shades and it really takes a lot of building to get them to show up. Some shades (i.e. the darker ones) don't require many layers but the lighter colors definitely do. This palette would be ideal for anyone looking for a very soft wash of color on the lids/crease.

Photo of me using the majority of the eyeshadows in this palette :)

I hope these swatches help if you're considering this palette.

My LORAC PRO Palette Collection!

Hello everyone,

Today I'm sharing swatches and photos of every LORAC PRO palette I own. A few of my lovely subscribers have asked for swatches and comparisons of the PRO palettes especially the Mega PRO palettes.

So after searching through my external hard drive, I found the photos I used many months back to review these individually here on my blog. Reader be warned, this will be a very picture heavy post :)

**Before I get into each palette, the quality and pigmentation on all PRO palettes is outstanding. For me, everything about these checks off each box of "must haves" in an eyeshadow.

Here are the original Pro palettes (1 & 2) that are currently available at Ulta (online and in stores) and on the LORAC Cosmetics website. Both retail for $42 and contain 16 eyeshadows, 8 which are matte finish and 8 shimmer/metallic finish.

*LORAC PRO 1: I would categorize this one as the everyday palette that's full of basic neutrals. A definite staple in any makeup collection.

L to R:
Lt. Pink, Taupe, Cream & White
L to R:
Black, Brown, Sable & Mauve
L to R:
Lt. Bronze, Gold, Champagne & Nude
Salte, Deep Purple, Garnet & Pewter

*LORAC PRO 2: While this one has a several basic neutrals, you get more pops of color with the Jade, Plum and Navy shades. Again, another staple item!

The LORAC Mega PRO 1 and Mega PRO 2 palettes are double the size of the regular PRO palettes. These are limited edition palettes containing 32 gorgeous eyeshadows and retail for $59.

*LORAC Mega PRO 1: I would categorize this one with not only your neutrals that are needed in many looks but with an emphasis on berry type shades. I find the colors in this Mega PRO 1 palette to be more rich and deep in tone.

*LORAC Mega PRO 2: Contains 32 buttery shades ranging from classic neutrals to warm orangey tones to a few pops of colors; that are just perfection. Absolutely love this one!

Well, there you have it! All of my beloved PRO palettes :)

From the swatches above you can see the quality of each eyeshadow. Along all 4 PRO palettes, the only color that is repeated is black. Some would say why include black in each palette while others would appreciate it. I don't mind it because it's a useful shade.

I adore these and would highly recommend them. One thing to note, the Mega PRO 1 was from 2014 Holiday so unfortunately, it's not longer available. The Mega PRO 2 is from this year 2015 Holiday and is currently in stock on Ulta's website.
