New Makeup Geek Eyeshadows + Z Palette Organization

Hello & Happy Wednesday!!

I'm excited to share with you some new Makeup Geek eyeshadows that I purchased last week. I know in my last haul video I mentioned being on a strict "no buy" for awhile but I couldn't help myself. As you probably already know, I am a huge fan of Makeup Geek eyeshadows. So of course, when the website shows 5 brand new colors that recently launch for May...I had to jump on it :)

So today I'm posting swatches, photos and my thoughts on the 5 brand new shades along with a couple other eyeshadows that have been out of stock for a while. So glad I got my hands on these babies. I also got a few other things from the Makeup Geek that I'll share very soon.

5 Brand New Eyeshadows::

Rockstar: silver with purple iridescent shimmer
Pop culture: shimmery lilac
Shark bait: matte deep teal
Glass slipper: shimmery aqua
Barcelona beach: matte medium tan brown

Swatches.....

I am very happy with the pigmentation and color payoff of these new colors. As you can tell, they are very summery shades but honestly these can be worn throughout the year in many different wearable ways.

Razzleberry: pinky red with gold glitter
Chickadee: matte orange
Dirty martini: matte dirty olive
Goddess: metallic coppery bronze

Swatches....

Again, pigmentation and quality is just amazing for the price. Each eyeshadow pan is $5.99 or if you prefer eyeshadows with individual compacts then the cost would be $7.99 each.

Below are pictures of my Z palettes that are holding all of my Makeup Geek eyeshadows. I'm in eyeshadow heaven! I've organized my palettes by color as you can see below. I started with light neutrals and then gradually went to tans and browns. For the blues, I started with the lightest aqua then gradually to deeper blues then into greens then a couple randoms then finally into grays and black. Then lastly, for the yellows, I started with the palest yellow gradually to golds and oranges then to soft pinks to deeper plums and purples.

The great thing about Z palettes is that you can reorganize your colors whenever you want.

This dark raspberry damask print is a Makeup Geek exclusive. You can only get them through her website (link is provided above). Each empty palette is $19.99.

I hope that you enjoyed the mini review and swatches. Do you own any Makeup Geek eyeshadows? If so, what colors are you loving? If you would like to see swatches and read my previous Makeup Geek review of 55+ eyeshadows in the line click here

IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol.1 Matte Palette

Hello & welcome back :)

I'm very excited to share yet another palette review and swatch-fest! I've purchased several new things recently and of course, I couldn't wait to share with you. Today, I'm doing a first impressions type of post on this palette. I've had a little over a week to play with this new baby so below are the swatches, my initial thoughts and a "no makeup, makeup" look I created.

IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol.1 palette retails for $42 at Ulta and QVC. I purchased mine from Ulta but the QVC website has a better deal that includes a double ended brush with this palette. Now that I've seen this deal, I wish I would have gone the QVC route. But anyway, here's a look at the entire palette.

It contains 14 matte eyeshadows that are talc-free, anti-aging, and full of good for you ingredients. It also has a transforming pearl eyeshadow that can be worn alone or over each color as described in the instructions.

This palette has a good range of soft neutrals and a couple pops of color that are all very wearable. I think this palette can be used by anyone regardless of eye or skin color. The colors are beautiful and complimentary to everyone.

Swatches.....

*Sheer joy- can't really be seen in the photo above because it's the color of my skin. If you are medium, tan or deep complexed, this color will show up. Unfortunately, for me (**I'm super pale....borderline translucent) this color can only be used as a brow or inner corner highlight.

*Love- a very pale pink doesn't look too intense with my skin tone but it still does show slightly.

These eyeshadows are extremely buttery and smooth...like no other! I love how the company created such creamy colors without being actual cream shadows. Just by looking at the eyeshadows you can tell how soft they are.

Transforming pearl

In this photo, I wanted to showcase the transforming pearl color. This little feature is very unique for a palette. Usually when you purchase a palette the colors are either all matte, all shimmery or a combo of both. But rarely do you see a palette include a bonus shadow to transform all colors into new versions. As you can see, I chose the darker shade which really shows how this transforming pearl shade works. I really love this! The transforming pearl color is just beautiful on its own too.

Here's a snapshot of an upcoming tutorial featuring this palette. It's a quick 5 minute "no makeup, makeup" look. Tutorial will be posted soon on here

Overall, this palette is great. It's pigmented, super creamy and smooth and can give a wide range of easy soft looks to several darker and deeper smokey looks. If you don't own a lot of mattes in your collection, check this palette out. Or if you're like me, obsessed with makeup, you'll love it too!

I hope this first impressions post was helpful for you. What do you think about this palette? Any stand out shades for you? If you would like to see a makeup tutorial using this palette with specific colors, please let me know. I'd love to create a video for you!

Meet Matte Nude Palette Review & Swatches

Hey guys!

I'm excited to share with you my thoughts on theBalm's Meet Matte Nude palette that I've had for a few months now. I'm not too familiar with theBalm cosmetics so when the website had a flash sale months ago, I decided to try a couple things. I've been eyeing this palette for awhile simply because I was in need of good matte eyeshadows and I wanted them in a palette versus individual eyeshadows.

I'm super impressed with the pigmentation of these eyeshadows. If you use eyeshadows day to day then you probably already know that matte eyeshadows with good payoff are hard to come by. So if you want good matte eyeshadows to expand your current makeup stash or are looking for something different, than this palette is for you!

Let's get into the details....

The packaging is just adorable. I do have to give theBlam points for cute kinda vintage packaging on their products. This palette is available on theBalm cosmetics website and retails for $42. I know the price is a bit high but the eyeshadow sizes are pretty large. The palette contains 9 matte eyeshadows. If you wait for a flash sale or even check the HauteLook app, you'll be able to save some money.

Here are up close photos and swatches of each eyeshadow:

Matt Johnson: Dark grey
Matt Garcia: Dark red brown
Matt Malloy: White

Matt Rosen: Medium brown
Matt Wood: Deep espresso brown
Matt Singh: Soft pinky mauve

Matt Abdul: Soft grey
Matt Lombardi: Soft creamy golden yellow
Matt Hung: Dark taupe-y purple

I think the color ranges are great and can be the perfect addition to any makeup collection. I find these colors are very handy when using bright eyeshadows since they add some depth and dimension to a look. They are also wonderful to create an entire matte look using only this palette. I do recommend this palette for anyone looking for good, pigmented, creamy and smooth matte eyeshadows.

Overall, this palette gets two thumbs up in my book!! Have you tried this palette from theBalm? If so, what are your favorite colors?

Mally Beauty BulletProof Essentials Kit

Hello and welcome back!

I'm very excited to share with you a kit I found at Ulta recently. This brand was just added to most Ulta stores within the last month and I was so happy to finally get my hands on Mally Beauty products. Now you may have heard of Mally from QVC or from other makeup lovers in the Youtube beauty community. I've seen her so many times on QVC and her products look great. Plus, the buzz and hype of this brand definitely put it on the top of my shopping list!

So since Ulta has this brand in stock, I couldn't help myself. I must share :) I love trying out try me kits or starter kits from new brands because it gives me a sense of what the brand is like. It also allows me to try multiple products at an affordable price. So who doesn't love a good bargain? This kit is no exception.... Five full size products for only $49! I couldn't resist!!

Here are the details....

Individual mini reviews/first impressions:

This Evercolor Poreless Face Defender was a product that I've been wanting to try for a very long time. It's hard to describe the actual texture because I've never tried anything quite like this. It's like a solid gel with a little bit of slip. Not too slippery where it feels weird and makes you oily. This product claims to improve the look of your skin by giving a mattified, smooth and flawless appearance* (description is from ulta's website). I can actually say this works to keep my oily skin mattified. I love how this can be worn under foundation or over for touch ups on the go.

It keeps my skin mattified for decent amount of time and my pores do look smaller after using it. This won't disturb the makeup you're wearing. It goes on smooth with a clear matte finish. This product can be purchased individually for $40 from Ulta's website (linked below photo).

High shine liquid lipstick has a cute twist up packaging with makes it perfect for on the go. I do like the color however, it's kinda sheer but adds a nice sparkle to your lips or to your favorite lipstick. It's not too sticky or weird smelling.

The volumizing mascara was another must try product for me. From the reviews I've read to what I've heard from QVC shows, this mascara is a fan favorite. It claims to give lashes an instant boost and transform your eyes *(description from ulta's website). I like how the formula is a rich black but it's a bit too wet for me. I think I might have to let this one sit for bit before trying it again. From the first few uses, it defined my lashes but didn't give me the "wow" lashes I thought. I'll definitely do a follow up review soon!

This next product also seems to be a fan favorite on QVC. It's Mally's evercolor shadow sticks that claim to be a long-wearing cream eyeshadow. Cream eyeshadows for me has always been a no-go because my eyelids are oily and everything creases within 30 minutes. This shadow stick did last several hours with minor creasing. I do have to say that overall, I'm pleased with it.

Evercolor shadow stick "saddle shimmer"
also available for individual purchase here
$25 each
This color is just gorgeous!! I love it :) It's a coppery bronze with subtle silver shimmer that would look awesome on every eye color.

The evercolor starlight waterproof eyeliner is a nice rich black with a very subtle sheen. Not too sparkly or shimmer, just the right glow. I really like the creaminess and smoothness of this eyeliner. The price for each eyeliner from Mally is $15 which isn't too bad. It's a good tight-line eyeliner that doesn't budge, flake or transfer below the eyes.

Overall, I think this kit is pretty good. I'm able to try many of Mally Beauty's best sellers for a great price. This kit is only $49 (kit is valued at $120!) and you can buy yours by clicking here. I hope this first impressions post was helpful for you. I'll do some follow ups very soon on these products.
