Eyeshadow Primers- Reviews

Hi Everyone!! I am currently posting a new video on my channel about all the different types of primers that I own and use. I reviewed 5 different primers and showed swatches of a drugstore eyeshadow over each of the them. Below you will see a picture of the swatches...I started on the right and worked my way to the last primer. The first swatch on the right is of the eyeshadow without a primer base. I hope this review is helpful :) Prices and where to purchase will also be listed. Check my video out...www.youtube.com/user/glamourbylexi

1st primer: Too Faced shawdow insurance- One of my favorites. I have been using this product for 2 years now. It's a no fail product that is one of my must haves in my makeup collection. This primer does not crease on my whatsoever. I have oily lids so its important to use a good base that will prevent creasing throughout the day. And...this is one of them!! It's a clear primer that feels silky smooth when applied. Comes in a squeeze tube! Price- $17 and can be purchased that Ulta and Sephora.

2nd primer: Lorac behind the scenes- This is my second favorite primer! It too is clear and silky when applied. This primer helps my eyeshadow stay on all day and night. It's another no fail product that I can see in my makeup collection for a long time. This primer comes in an awesome squeeze tube! Price- $22 and can be purchased at Ulta.

3rd primer: Smashbox photofinish lid primer- I've had this product since last year and honestly I don't use it as often as I thought I would. It has a doe foot applicator which can be good as far as getting the product out quickly but must the UDPP, after a certain point it's hard to get the bottom bits out. This primer has a peachy pink tint and it applies a bit on the thicker side. What I like about this primer is that since it has a color to it, it helps conceal any redness or little veins you may have on the lid area. Remember that area is super thin and delicate! If you have redness or veins that you would like to conceal, try this primer. Although, some use concealer; if you have oily lids like me then concealer won't prevent oil build up. Price -$18 and can be purchased at Ulta.

4th primer: Urban Decay primer potion- This is another clear primer when applied. I find that this primer is a bit oily. The primer potion has creased on me before. I don't know if it's from using too much of product or not enough. I feel as though you should only have to use a tiny amount to prevent creasing so this primer may not last as long as the first two primers I reviewed. This primer has a doe foot applicator and the package is not the best. It's hard to get the last bits of primer from the bottom. On the bright side, Urban Decay has come out with the primer potion in a squeeze tube!! If for whatever reason my Ulta is sold out of Too Faced and Lorac, then this would be an alternative. Price- $18 and can be purchase at Ulta and Sephora.

5th primer: Benefit Stay don't Stray- This primer has two purposes...can be used as an eyeshadow primer and as a concealer primer. I haven't try this underneath my concealer yet. As far as the eyeshadow primer part....this primer is slightly thick and has a yellow color. Again, like the Smashbox primer, this too can be used to cover redness and veins on the lids. The down side is that you end up wasting more product then you will use. The first few pumps, you will notice that way too much product come out...enough for 3 days worth. Not good! After you get a hang of the pump then not so much is wasted. I will probably not repurchase this in the future. Price-$24 and can be purchased at Ulta and Sephora.

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm Review

This post is going to be a review of the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm. I hope this quick review is helpful to you all. If you have any questions or comments please let me know. Follow my youtube channel at www.youtube.com/user/glamourbylexi
Yes, Jack Black is a skincare line designed for men but this product can be used by men and women. I have been using this product for 3 weeks and I really enjoy this lip balm. I usually keep this lip balm on my night stand because I really mostly use it at night before bed. When I wake up in the morning my lips feel hydrated and super soft. This a good product to have in your makeup bag, nightstand, or in your bathroom. I will repurchase this product when I run out. The only other lip balm/chapstick type product that I have been repurchasing over and over is the original chapstick so I think I may have found a much better substitute!! The great qualities about this product are:
* Cruelty Free
* Contains an SPF 25 which is key in lip products year round
* Has a slight tingle from the natural mint flavor
* Contains Shea Butter which is great for hydration
* It's only $7 for .25oz
* You can find this product at Ulta, Sephora or the Jack Black website
Disclaimer: These are completely my own thoughts and opinions. I was not paid to review this product. I didn't purchase this product with my own money. I am not affiliated with Jack Black.

Makeup Tip #5 (Making blush last all day)

Hello everyone!! It's time for my 4th makeup tip. I truly hope you all find these tips helpful. As always, if you have questions or comments please let me know either on my youtube channel or email. Now for this weeks tip........

Making your blush last all day:

If you are having trouble making your blush last throughout the day, no worries! I have the solution for this problem. Try layering....I know in the summer time layering doesn't seem ideal. If you have oily skin try using MAC cream color bases, these are much thicker than cream blushes. Once you have applied the cream color base than apply a sheer layer of powder blush. I'm sure you all are wondering...what if I have normal skin, dry skin or combination. For normal skin beauties, you are the lucky ones. You can wear a cream blush, cheek tints and powder blushes with ease. If you want a more intense blush look than try layering with a powder blush for you normal skin gals. For my dry skin girls, try using a moisturzing cream blush. Cream blushes add a bit more moisture than cheek tints. Wearing cream blushes gives your skin a natural glowing flush from within. For my combination skin girls, identify which areas of your face are normal, oily or dry. If you are oily in the cheek area, follow the same layering technique as my oily skin gals. For my combination girls, if your cheek area is normal than you can wear blush anyway you'd like. If you happen to have dry areas around the cheeks, try stippling cream blushes on with a duo fibre brush. For applying cream color bases, use a stiff angle blush brush. For tints or stains apply with your fingers in a circular motion and quickly!!

* Cream blushes have more moisture in them than tints or stains so be careful with the ones you choose.
*Cheek tints or stains are a much lighter form of blush. It's create for the first layer of color since most of these are extremely lightweight.
*Powder blushes are great for oily skin and if you have dry skin don't use these.
*Cream color base are a famous product by MAC but they are wonderful. I love to use them underneath my blush. These are much thicker and drier than cream blushes. Use sparingly!

L'oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Review

I have been using this new Loreal magic perfecting base for over a month. Let me just say that I love this primer. I have used other brands and none of them compare. It's so good that I have 3 backups just in case they discontinue it. Loreal has recently created a line of new products that were designed by professional makeup artists. This new line has several different products that are called studio secrets. This awesome primer is labeled as studio secret no.1. You can find this product at any local drugstore, which is great. It costs about $12 for .05oz which isn't a lot of product...but the good thing is that a little bit goes a long way. I've been using the same jar for over a month. This primer is super fluffy almost like a whipped mousse with a slightly pinkish color. I love how smooth this makes my skin feel. Another great quality is that it makes my foundation glide so smoothly onto my skin. My foundation blends easier and lasts so much longer. When I apply this primer, it almost acts like a mattifier. Which if you have oily skin like me, this is good! I would recommend this product to other people. I would buy this item again once I run out of my backups. I hope this review provided some helpful insight on this new product. If you all have any questions please feel free to email me at glamourbylexi.r@gmail.com or you can simply leave a comment on my most recently uploaded video http://www.youtube.com/user/glamourbylexi

Hopefully with this picture you all can see the consistancy of this product. An awesome whipped mousse!

Be on the look at for this packaging on your next drugstore trip!

Physician's Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Gel CreamLiner Review

Hello everyone. This blog post is going to be a review on the new Physician's Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Gel CreamLiners. These were mentioned in my April favorites video. I mentioned in my video that I was going to post swatches here on my blog. I hope this review is helpful. If you haven't watched my april favorites video please do so. Thanks for watching my videos, subscribing to my channel and following my blog!!

This is what the custom eye enhancing gel liners look like. They are stackable which is great. I can choose the 3 shades I want when traveling or I can stack just 2 shades. I can even just take one shade with me. I purchased the eye enhancing gel liners for green and blues eyes. I know I don't have either of those eye colors but the gel liners are in the colors I was looking for. I purchased these at CVS. Unfortunately, I have not seen them in other drugstores. I would purchase these gel liners again. These are a great bargin item in drugstores. This new line of products designed for eye colors also include Shimmer Strips color enhanching mascara duos and Shimmer Strips color enhancing shadow & liner pop collection. These gel liners and other products come for all eye colors. Visit CVS or check your local drugstore for these products.

Here's the swatch for the Custom Eye Enhancing Gel CreamLiner for green eyes. I love how pigmented these liners are. Another great perk is that they are cheap...around $11 for 3 stackable shades! These gel liners apply very smoothly. They last all day which is great.

Here's the swatch for the Custome Eye Enhancing Gel CreamLiners for blue eyes. I really love these 3 shades. Great quality!

*FTC Disclaimer: I did purchase these items pictured with my own money. These are my own thoughts and opinions. I was not paid to mention or review these products or brand.

My NARS sheer glow foundation routine/Review

Hey everyone. I uploaded a new video showing my current foundation products. I have finnaly decided to try the NARS sheer glow foundation. I am really liking this foundation. It provides a really nice finish and coverage. I know that people with oily skin tend to stay away from foundations that claim to have a glow/dewy finish because it just adds more attention to oily areas. No worries with the NARS sheer glow foundation. If you haven't already tried this foundation please do so. Another NARS product that I have been using is the loose powder. It comes in a pretty big box and you get a lot of product for your money. I love using this powder to set my foundation. It provides a very light coverage so you can layer it on top of the foundation and not have to worry about it looking caked on. I also use the neutrogena blemish concealer. It's a bit thicker than most concealers because of the acne solution that is in it. I like to use it underneath my eye because it covers the dark circles really well. I also use it to cover up blemishes that are a bit red. My last product that I use the Givenchy mat & glow sun visage face powder. It comes in a pretty compact and it provides a very light natural sheen to my skin. I absolutely love it. It's expensive so I use it sparingly. Below I'll put the name of the products with prices and where to buy them. Thanks for watching my videos and subscribing. I hope this video was helpful. See you in my next video.

NARS sheer glow foundation $42 (sephora or narscosmetics.com)
NARS loose powder $38 (sephora or narscosmetics.com)
Givenchy mat & glow sun visage face powder $53
Neutrogena blemish concealer $9 (drugstores)

Makeup Tip #4

Hello everyone! It's time for this weeks makeup tip. I hope you all find these tips helpful. If you have any questions or video requests, please feel free to let me know. There are several ways to get in contact with me. You can simply leave a comment on my most recent video uploaded so that I will easily see it. You can also email me at glamourbylexi.r@gmail.com Or you can simply leave a comment on this post if you'd like. Now on to the makeup tip.....

Have you ever tried to use your foundation brush that seems to be scratchy on your skin or that doesn't seem to spread the foundation effortlessly? Here's a tip to help solve that problem. Apply a little bit of facial moisturizer to the back of your hand, then swipe your foundation brush back and forth as if you were apply foundation to the back of your hand. This important step before using your foundation brush, will allow the foundation to glide on smoothly without the bristles feeling scratchy.

This step takes seconds but makes all the difference, :)

Makeup tip #3

Hey everyone! It's time for my makeup tip for this week. Do you wish that your lipstick would last longer throughout the day? Of course there are lip stains out there in the market but some of them don't last the 8 hours it claims and some brands don't offer a wide range of colors. Follow these easy steps to achieve longer lasting lipcolor....

The first thing you should always do is moisturizer your lips. I like to use lip butters or even healing lip balms at night. I keep one in my bathroom and my nightstand. Dry lips don't mix well with lipstick regardless of the cost. Since lips are the last step in completing any look, apply your choice of moisturizing lip balm first so by the end of applying your makeup, your lips will be all ready to go. Once the lip balm soaks into your lips, then start lining your lips with a lipliner that matches the lipstick. After lining your lips, start filling them in with the lipliner. This will ensure that your lipliner in locked onto your lips. Then apply your choice of lipstick. If you want you can also apply a clear gloss over it. And you're finished!

Enjoy these easy steps to make your lipstick last a little bit longer than usual.

Haul Video

Hey everyone! I uploaded a new video today. If you haven't watched it please do so. I'll put a link at the end of this post. I just wanted to list the products I purchased and mention where I bought them from. As I do these tutorials and/or haul videos I would also like to include any dupes that I may know of that would be great substitutes for certain products. I feel like this would be helpful. I don't always use products that are still currently out in the market. Everyone knows about the infamous MAC cosmetics...if you're not one of the first lucky ones then unfortunately when products run out, that's it :/ So here's the list. Enjoy! Check my recent haul video at http://www.youtube.com/user/glamourbylexi

*Maybelline eyestudio sapphire siren quad #20 (walgreens, ulta or any drugstore)
*Maybelline mineral power concealer (ulta or any drugstore)
*Hot Tools nano ceramic 1 1/4 inch curling iron (ulta, online or any salon)
*Garnier Fructis anti frizz serum and glossing spray (walgreens, ulta or any drugstore)
*Formula 1006 skincare-pore scrub, foaming cleanser, cleansing wipes, oil free moisturizer, deep detox mud mask, pore mud mask, and toner (ulta or online)

Ftc disclaimer: I did purchase the following items with my own money. I was not paid to mention any of these brands/products. I am not affiliated with any of these brands. These are my own thoughts and opinions.

Makeup Tip #2

Hey everyone. I hope that these makeup tips are helpful. If you all have any requests for tutorials, product reviews or simply general questions please feel free to email me. Thanks for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel. Now here is the second installment of my tips series. Enjoy!! Here's the link to my youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/glamourbylexi

My email: glamourbylexi.r@gmail.com

Tip #2

Whether you are starting your makeup collection or expanding on the one you have, you always need some type of foundation/base. If your skin in clear of any type of break outs simply use a good quality concealer to conceal any scars, redness or dark circles you may have. Once this step is done then follow with a tinted mositurizer. Why use foundation if you don't really need coverage? Lucky you! After the tinted mositurizer, apply your favorite blush and you're done! Now if you do need foundation for whatever reason, again invest the money in a really great quality concealer so therefore you can use perhaps a drugstore brand foundation. In the past few years drugstore foundations have come a long way so it's not a bad idea.
**One helpful foundation tip......if you are looking for foundation in your brand of choice, look to see if that brand offers foundations for certain skin types. Go with the one according to your skin (Normal, Oily, Combination, or Dry) these will work the best and last the longest.

Makeup tip #1

Hello everyone!

I am thinking about starting a "makeup tips" series. I would like to know if this is something you all would benefit from. You can leave your feedback as a comment to my most recent video, or follow my blog or through email. There are several series I would like to do so please do let me know what you all would enjoy. I hope this makeup tip is helpful. Feel free to video response your makeup look using these tips to my most recent video. Thanks for subscribing and watching my videos :)

Tip#1

Want to wear bright funky eyeshadows? Well here's how you can pull this off day or night....
First, decide whether you want the bright color on your lids or on your lower lash line.
If you choose the lids...this tip is for you, apply the bright eyeshadow on your lids only! Then add a neutral shade in the crease. Neutral shades can be matte brown in various shade ranges, or even a dark matte grey/black. Don't use shimmery colors in the crease since you already have a lot going on and you want the bright color to be the focus.

If you choose under the eye area...this tip is for you, start with a neutral eye look. You don't want too much going on which causes distractions. There won't be a focal point in your look. Then take a pencil brush and apply your chosen bright eyeshadow below the lash line. If you have a bright colored eyeliner that will work too! You can also use brown mascara on your lower lashes so that the eyeshadow stands out.

Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland

Sorry that I didn't get this up the same day I uploaded my video. If you haven't see my video, please check it out. So, Urban Decay has come out with another book of shadows! How exciting!! As you all already know the Alice in Wonderland movie comes out next month in 3D. I am really loving this palette. What I love the most is that if you don't get the chance to buy this limited edition palette before it's gone....you have no worries. You can still purchase all of the colors separately from the permanent line. I think is this pretty awesome because like other cosmetic lines.....items are limited edition which means limited quantities. And once they're gone, you can't find those products anymore unless you go on ebay. I wouldn't recommend Ebay for buying this new book of shadows. Someone on Ebay was selling it for $71 plus shipping when the palette really only costs $52. Ebay is a last resort for products....FYI you will be paying more than usual. I want to write the list of colors you get and give ya'll the permanent name for each color as well. I'm not sure if it is available on Sephora's website just yet. But I do know people have already purchased this palette in advance straight from Urban Decay. People are now starting to receive there orders. So hurry before it's too late!! 6 eyeshadows have glitter and the rest are very frosty or shimmery! I hope this was helpful. Enjoy your Alice in Wonderland book of shadows.

Update- MAC and Sigma brushes

Hello everyone.....so I'm in the process of making more videos to upload on youtube. I'm sure everyone already knows about the MAC in Lillyland collection. Well the only thing I got when the collection frist came out was the Pearlmatte face powder. I think it's so pretty as an all over bronzer or even as a blush. I've been using it as blush since I've purchased it. I've also been wanting to get the cremeblend blush in so sweet so easy....well it's sold out everywhere around me. I'm a little upset because I've been trying to get my hands on it for some time now. When I went to the MAC counter to keep the new collection out, they were already sold out of that cremeblend blush. I'm very disappointed because I've gone to like 2 different malls and they both don't even have the tester for it. I've decided to order it online but I'm afraid that it'll be totally different than what it looks online. I haven't been able to see it in person so that's kind scary. I'm not a big fan of ordering online. Speaking of online....I finally purchased some Sigma makeup brushes. I've been wanting some of there brushes for a very long time....I would say since June of last year. Why has it taken me so long to order them? I don't know! I've basically let myself go by what others have to say. I've heard nothing but good things about Sigma makeup brushes so we'll see when I get them this week. I think I'm going to do 2 videos on the brushes. One of my initial thoughts/reaction and the second video on what I actually think of them. Probably in a few weeks. I have to test them out before I say anything about them. Well I think I've done enough rambling about random things. I will try to upload a video soon. Thanks for following my blog and watching my videos.

FTC: I did purchase these products with my own money. I was not paid to mention or review these products. These are my own thoughts and opinions. I am not affiliated with any of these brands/companies.
